3 Cleansing Products

Hi friends!

I'm so curious who is thinking of doing the cleanse with us!? If it's you, post a comment and shout out!

As I said before you can choose how deep into the body cleanse rabbit hole you go and it doesn't have to be difficult! Read my previous post for meal plan options.

Please remember to select organic foods if at all possible! The point of the cleanse is to remove toxins, so you want to avoid foods with pesticides and other chemicals in them! If your store doesn't have the particular ingredients listed in the meal plan, substitute. But don't go for canned, frozen, or processed foods. Choose fresh items from the produce section. Note some ways to make this super simple: many grocery stores do delivery now (and a free trial for first timers!), juice shops are expensive but eliminate the need for a juicer and clean up, pack your lunch

As a bit of a reality check, for the next 3 days, make a note of how much water you are drinking. Many of us think we drink a lot of water when really we are quite below the recommended amount, 8 glasses a day. During cleansing you will need even more! Tea is not a good substitute as many teas, including herbal, are diuretic. Try using a refillable water bottle, fill it up full and notice how many times you go to refill it.

On the note of tea, you will also need to purchase some herbs for cleansing support! Some popular tea brands carry body cleanse tea blends, available in tea bags. This is the simplest option. They contain herbs good for cleansing the colon, blood, liver, parasites, and sometimes heavy metals and other toxins.

Try DeTox by Yogi Tea. It does not contain senna, a laxative, which makes it good to drink throughout the day.

Using a gentle laxative at night during a cleanse can be very helpful for keeping the body in movement and assisting the intestines and colon in getting rid of waste. You can use senna tea (Smooth Move) or herbal laxative pills before bed. Start with a light dose and adjust depending on your sensitivity. This should not keep you up at night. My favorite cleansing tea with senna is Zen Cleanse by Buddha Teas, it's gentle and tastes good, though it can be hard to find.

You can read about some common cleansing herbs here. http://naturalon.com/top-10-best-teas-for-detox-and-cleansing/view-all/

Another product helpful during a cleanse is psyllium husk. It is super absorptive, which is good for transporting waste out of the intestines and colon. You can find it in the supplement department and usually at Trader Joe's. Follow the instructions on the label and drink lots of water. If you can't find psyllium or it doesn't suit you, consider bentonite clay or acacia.

That's just 3 items to add to your shopping list:
  • 1 cleansing herbal tea without senna
  • 1 cleansing tea with senna OR an herbal laxative
  • psyllium husk or bentonite clay or acacia
One step at a time we will keep preparing for our Monday start. For now, consider your goals and your cleanse plan.

Take care!
Shannon
